Registered Nurse - Stepdown

Job Summary Mission Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality bedside and leadership care. This role allows nurses to focus on patient-centered care while benefiting from advanced technology and robust support. Responsibilities Provides leadership which facilitates the delivery of professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation; delegates; supervises; documents care and teaching of patients and families. Implements medically prescribed interventions. Assess the patient’s condition during admission and each scheduled shift, and promptly identify and report any changes in patient status. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient’s medical record. Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response. Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them. Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow‑up measures, ensuring complete understanding and translating complex medical terminology. Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN or advanced degree program with completion of a BSN within 5 years of hire. Grandfathering may be accepted across Mission Health entities; RNs with 10 years or more of experience are exempt. Preferred Education: Master’s in Nursing. Required Licensure/Certification: Active registered nurse license with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply; confirm with NCBON. Additional Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
