Design Engineer

Wall Industries manufactures and markets a full line of DC‑DC converters and AC‑DC power supplies with an emphasis on modified standard and customized power solutions. Responsibilities Responsible for 100% of the design generation of power supplies from inception to final product. Design from documentation supplied by customers and/or internal specification. Interface with Sales/Marketing and customers as required. Generate preliminary documentation for fabrication of prototype models (may include fabricating, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing analog and digital circuits). Test product models—whether actual or prototype (breadboard)—to environmental conditions to establish operational stability, reliability and conformity to design. Work will be performed using oscilloscopes, voltage meters, electronic loads, bench‑top power supplies, test fixtures, environmental ovens and other electronic associated equipment. Prototyping will include recommending, designing and possibly fabricating fixtures, tools and equipment for the manufacture of the product. Generate instructional information for the manufacturer of the product being transferred from engineering to manufacturing. Follow ISO policy and procedures throughout all work performed. Make effective and efficient use of all resources, including inventory material, supplies, tools and tooling equipment. Consult supervisor when unusual conditions exist and safety issues arise. Maintain necessary records, files and reports for the immediate supervisor. Practice good housekeeping in your area. Properly maintain equipment in good working order, including reporting un‑calibrated equipment. Follow established company rules and regulations. Perform other related duties as required. Interface with other departments, vendors, and manufacturers as required. Qualifications Education: Four‑year degree in Electronics preferred or 6+ years in power supply industry experience. Experience: Three years experience or equivalent experience as design engineer of power conversion circuits. ISO experience a plus. Skills: Must be completely familiar with advanced analog design techniques including magnetic design and theory, power supply layout and packaging including verification of CAD-generated documentation, power applications and interpretation of system power specification, component engineering including stress factor analysis, manufacturing techniques related to power supply manufacturer, agency approvals: UL, CSA, VDE, TUV.
