The Dean of Students leads student conduct and behavioral support initiatives with a strategic focus on restorative practices, intervention, and positive behavioral outcomes. This role promotes a culture of respect, collaboration, and shared responsibility by partnering with students, families, teachers, clinicians, and support staff to address underlying behavioral concerns and prevent suspensions through evidence-based alternatives. The Dean of Students serves as a visible, approachable leader committed to student-centered decision-making, mutual respect, accountability, growth, and community repair, while ensuring that all actions contribute to better serving students and strengthening the school community. Essential Job Functions Investigate and resolve student conduct violations with emphasis on understanding root causes and behavioral patterns, ensuring fair and thorough inquiries that maintain student dignity and due process Make discipline decisions that prioritize learning opportunities and behavior modification, minimizing reliance on in-school and out-of-school suspensions Facilitate restorative conferences, circles, peer mediation, and other restorative practices to repair harm and rebuild relationships between students and affected parties Coordinate with Youth Treatment Counselors, clinicians, teachers, and other support staff to develop individualized behavior support plans Conduct proactive parent and family conferences to discuss behavioral concerns, student strengths, and collaborative strategies for supporting positive behavior Track, analyze, and report on behavioral data to identify trends, at-risk students, and measure effectiveness of restorative initiatives and interventions Maintain detailed, objective documentation of incidents, investigations, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with school and district policies Monitor intervention effectiveness and adjust behavioral support strategies based on student progress and changing needs Other Job Functions Collaborate with school leadership to develop and refine positive behavioral expectations, school-wide recognition systems, and restorative discipline policies Support and provide professional development to staff on restorative practices, trauma-informed discipline, and de-escalation techniques Participate in school and district committees related to student welfare, safety, and climate Maintain confidentiality and comply with all legal and regulatory requirements regarding student records and special populations (special education, English Language Learners, etc.) Perform administrative tasks including scheduling, record management, and communication Serve as a visible presence in school spaces to build relationships with students and model positive school culture Participate in school crisis response and safety protocols as needed Support education leadership with Cognia accreditation and Colorado Department of Education accreditation and monitoring activities Supports and advances quality improvement efforts through adherence to Tennyson Center policies and procedures, regulator standards, and best practices Physical Requirements Must be able to successfully complete a pre-hire physical Implement behavioral interventions as needed Working Conditions In-person on-campus work/school and treatment environment Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree is required Professional teaching license is required All candidates must have (or qualify to obtain) a current Colorado driver's license All positions require a pre-employment drug test, FBI fingerprint check, CBI criminal records check, child abuse registry check, motor vehicle record check, academic record verification, and reference checks Benefits Medical, Dental, & Vision Insurance options Generous Paid Time Off 13 paid holidays Paid Mental Health days to regroup & recharge Retirement Plan with a match up to 4% of your annual salary Pet, Legal & Identity Theft insurance options HSA & FSA options Accident, Critical Illness, Disability & Hospital Indemnityinsurance options Company paid Life Insurance & AD&D with options to purchase additional coverage Employee Assistance Program Employee Referral Bonus Professional Development Assistance Some positions may qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
