Technology Support Specialist

Job Title

General Definition of Work

Performs intermediate skilled technical work serving as the primary contact for staff and students in the area of hardware/software technologies, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Director of Technology.

Essential Functions

Provide technical service and support to all district staff and students; diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues including internet connectivity, email, VOIP, smartboards, cameras and related peripherals; troubleshoot software specific issues and procedures; interacts and problem solves with staff, students, parents, and vendors.

Train staff on new or existing technology throughout the district; train technical staff on district systems, policies and job responsibilities.

Recommend changes and enhancements to supervisor on existing technologies; stay current and researches technological developments; insure licenses and versions are up-to-date.

Maintain an inventory of hardware to include location and type of asset; oversee the recycling of outdated equipment; provide insurance information to building administration regarding technical assets.

Administer systems to include Google, Active Director, Schoology, Synergy, Cisco Phone Systems and Schoolwires.

Set up all equipment (computers, networking, cameras and equipment) dealing with district special events.

Schedule and prepare Chromebook for student body.

Attend weekly Team Meetings to discuss the status of technology/upgrades within the district.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of District policies and procedures; thorough knowledge of School Crisis Planning Guide; thorough knowledge of hardware and software manuals, on-line forums and vendor product website support; thorough knowledge of Chromebook and databases; comprehensive knowledge of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones/IPads and printers; thorough knowledge of network hardware and software, servers, switchers; comprehensive knowledge of Google management console; ability to make mathematic computations; general knowledge of First Aid; ability to implement and model the "Code of Conduct"; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with co-workers, students, staff, parents and vendors.

Education and Experience

Associates/Technical degree in Information/Computer Technology, or related field and moderate experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and repetitive motions and occasionally requires lifting; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arm's length, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts and occasionally requires working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Special Requirements

Comp TIAA+ Certificate preferred

Valid driver's license.
