Foreman – Supervisor

This foreman role oversees labor and baggage operations within a busy airport terminal, leading a team of baggage porters and laborers on a full-time 3rd shift. You will supervise daily workforce activities, ensure accurate luggage and inventory tracking, and maintain a safe, efficient operation from shift start to completion in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, direct, and supervise a team of approximately 10 baggage porters and laborers during a 10-hour 3rd shift.
• Monitor employee performance and ensure team members remain productive, engaged, and focused throughout the shift.
• Conduct shift-start and shift-end attendance inspections and confirm staffing levels meet operational needs.
• Ensure luggage is properly loaded and unloaded between conveyor systems and U-Boat platform trucks.
• Verify baggage is accurately routed to designated loading and unloading locations to prevent misrouting.
• Monitor baggage flow across conveyor systems to prevent operational delays and bottlenecks.
• Ensure employees accurately record baggage information and tracking numbers on inventory sheets.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and documentation throughout the shift.
• Conduct inventory reconciliation and confirm all baggage is accounted for before shift completion.
• Communicate operational updates, safety concerns, and workforce issues to the Superintendent in a timely manner.
• Coach, mentor, and motivate team members to achieve performance, productivity, and attendance expectations.
• Enforce company policies, procedures, and workplace safety standards consistently across the team.
• Assist with resolving operational issues, equipment-related challenges, and employee concerns as they arise.
• Lead by example on the floor, demonstrating safe work practices and efficient baggage handling techniques.
• Drive productivity while maintaining operational accuracy so every piece of luggage is properly tracked and accounted for.
• Support testing activities on conveyor systems and new baggage scanning technology by overseeing bag loading and unloading processes.
• Help coordinate the handling of approximately 600 bags per shift, ensuring work is completed safely and on schedule.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a foreman, lead laborer, crew leader, or similar supervisory role in construction, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, airport operations, or other fast-paced environments.
• Proven experience managing labor crews and overseeing daily workforce productivity.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to take ownership of operations and lead by example.
• Effective communication skills for directing crews, providing updates, and coordinating with supervision.
• Solid organizational skills for managing schedules, documentation, and inventory records.
• Experience tracking inventory, production quantities, or operational documentation in a high-volume setting.
• Ability to provide direction, training, coaching, and corrective feedback to employees.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per shift in a physically demanding environment.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull baggage and equipment as needed.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience supervising labor crews in construction, logistics, manufacturing, production, warehousing, or similar operational environments.
• Experience in airport baggage handling, logistics, freight, warehouse, or material handling operations.
• Experience managing teams of 10 or more employees.
• Experience utilizing inventory tracking systems and operational reporting tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate employees while maintaining accountability and performance standards.
• Experience in construction management or production environments is beneficial.
• Familiarity with safety practices and standards in industrial or operational settings.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Work Environment

The role is based at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Terminal 4, in an indoor, air-conditioned and climate-controlled environment. You will work a full-time 3rd shift, typically Monday through Friday, starting at 5:00 PM and finishing around 3:30 AM, with some weekends and overtime required based on operational needs. The work is physically demanding, involving standing and walking for most of the 10-hour shift and regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling baggage and related equipment. Operations center around conveyor systems, U-Boat platform trucks, and modern baggage scanning technology, with approximately 600 bags handled per shift in a fast-paced but organized setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
