Job Description

Job Summary:
The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse (CVICU RN) is responsible for providing specialized care to post-operative open heart patients and critically ill cardiac patients in a 10-bed ICU unit. The role involves immediate post-operative recovery management, advanced medical interventions, and supporting complex cardiac cases.

Responsibilities:

• Administer comprehensive nursing care to CVICU patients, including those requiring immediate post-operative recovery and advanced life support.
• Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment such as A-lines, chest tubes, ventilators, and invasive lines.
• Assess patient conditions continuously, identify deteriorating signs, and implement appropriate interventions.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and execute individualized care plans and discharge planning.
• Precept and mentor new or less experienced staff, promoting best practices in critical care.
• Document patient information accurately and in timely accordance with organizational policies.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current Montana RN licensure and active BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Demonstrate recent critical care or CVICU experience, preferably with open heart surgery recovery.
• Possess proficiency in operating advanced medical equipment and interpreting cardiac telemetry and EKGs.
• Exhibit strong assessment skills, clinical judgment, and ability to act independently.
• Maintain excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
