Safety Specialist 2, Mission Critical

Job Summary The Safety Specialist will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and increasingly complex construction projects. The role includes conducting safety inspections, identifying and documenting abatement of hazardous conditions, writing reports, and performing trend analysis to support JE Dunn’s strategy, vision and values. Key Responsibilities Coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine construction projects. Conduct regular walk‑through inspections to ensure compliance with laws and company policies. Perform safety audits, identify hazards, document and recommend abatement to internal and external clients using safety management systems. Conduct project‑specific new hire orientation and oversee drug and alcohol policy compliance. Monitor implementation of prime contractor and subcontractor safety programs. Attend project pre‑planning, progress and other meetings to discuss safety matters. Support field leadership in implementing safety program specifics, including meetings, committees and chairing the project safety committee. Assist in investigating project‑related accidents, determining root cause and recommending process changes. Coordinate with injured employees and clinics to ensure timely return to work; compile injury progress reports. Monitor site safety incentive program. Possess higher safety knowledge to identify complex safety issues and provide advanced abatements. Use deeper knowledge of equipment, laws and work processes for project‑specific safety recommendations. Contribute higher‑level communication skills and active role in meetings. Utilize safety management systems for trend analysis and recommend mitigation solutions. Provide guidance and training on basic and intermediate safety topics. Assist safety leadership during insurance audits. Oversee complex projects, including large or multiple projects. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Perform work accurately, completely and timely. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office. Knowledge and ability to enforce federal, state, local and company safety regulations. Proficiency in company safety software and tools (intermediate). Recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures. Build relationships with team members across projects. Proficiency in required construction technology. Collaborate internally and externally within the team. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in a safety and health‑related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
