Patient Service Specialist

Department: SCMG Scotland Urgent Care – Immediate Care. Status: Full time. Shift: 1st. Schedule: Days vary to accommodate a 7‑day clinic; not limited to but mostly Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Responsibilities Accurately completes EPIC registration for each patient, including verifying and updating patient demographics, screening for insurance eligibility, scanning correct insurance cards, applying SPN Sliding Fee for self‑pay and ensuring acknowledgement is signed, and obtaining e‑signature consent for treatment and insurance authorization if required. Performs patient reminder calls, reviews requests to cancel or reschedule appointments daily, and handles live calls to decrease unused appointment slots. Assists with phone duties: greets patients, answers calls courteously, assists with scheduling and rescheduling, creates inbox messages for refill requests, and demonstrates competence in identifying RED words. Schedules appointments for walk‑ins. Generates no‑show letters through EPIC. Collects copays and coinsurance at check‑in or check‑out and completes daily deposit and reconciliation work. Education High school diploma or equivalency (GED); associate degree in healthcare administration or equivalent college coursework preferred. Experience Previous medical office experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide variety of individuals.
