Duties Scheduling students in their program of studies. Implement testing program. Act as a consultant to parents regarding their child and his/her progress and/or adjustment. Participate in the 8-Step Process of instruction and remediation/enrichment. Provide personal counseling for students experiencing adjustment difficulties. Use data to guide instructional decision making and work collaboratively in a Professional Learning Community. Consult teachers regarding individual students with learning and/or behavior problems. Guide students regarding career development. Help students obtain financial aid for post-high school education. Refer students to outside agencies for help when necessary. Register and orient new students. Assist with the coordination of case conferences. Have urban education experience and extensive background in designing and implementing innovative programming for adolescent students and families. Qualifications Master’s degree in guidance and counseling. Indiana State license in school counseling. Experience with high school age students. Observed ability to establish strong rapport with students and adults. Must not currently be on a Performance Improvement Plan. Working Conditions Works in standard office and school building environments. Must be able to work regularly scheduled hours. Must be able to handle stress.
