Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor, Respiratory - Fulltime - M - F 3pm - 11 pm - Brooklyn.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for overseeing Cardiopulmonary departments including planning scheduling organizing and coordinating activities of Respiratory therapists and technicians and equipment assistants. Manages staff and has budget oversight.

Job Responsibilities:

• Continuously assesses and improves departmental performance by determining accountabilities; communicating and enforcing values by implementing and following policies and procedures.
• Available for On-call schedule
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Oversees Respiratory Equipment Technician regarding maintenance of equipment required for Respiratory Care to insure proper operation and service. Collaborate with Bio-engineering to ensure proper preventive maintenance and repair schedules.
• Maintains appropriate inventory of all respiratory supplies and equipment by collaboratively working with purchasing and materials and distribution.
• Work with Director of RT with regards to disciplinary processes and counseling of employees. .
• Oversees the clinical education, training and competency of current staff and newly hired staff.
• Develops house staff and nursing orientation and education as it pertains to respiratory care services. Conducts employee orientation for all new Respiratory Therapy Staff..
• Maintains blood gas laboratory, medical gases, disposable supplies and any modalities necessary for clinical staff needs.
• Initiates weekly and monthly staff scheduling and balance and adjust assignments as needed to meet the needs of our patient population.
• Maintains equipment required for Respiratory Care to insure proper operation preventive maintenance and service.
• Work with Director of Respiratory Therapy to oversee all employee licensure verification and performance evaluations
• Insure and educate staff regarding competencies pertaining to DOH, College of American Pathologist and JC regulations for all Blood Gas Labs at NYU Langone-Brooklyn.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Attend departmental and Interdisciplinary meetings as needed
Identify, assess and implement established safety measures in response to PSIs and proactively ensure employee safety and comfort regarding the physical work environment. Communicate all incidents and findings to Director of Respiratory.
Assist in Performance Improvement activities, including the collection and assessment of data.
Participates in development of departmental goals and objectives and helps in meeting those goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Certificate of graduation from a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy program required
Bachelor's Degree required and Master's Degree preferred
Experience with adult, pediatric and neonatal patients required.
Clinical Education experience
5 years of clinical respiratory experience
2 years of supervisory/management experience in Respiratory Therapy required.
Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and effectively with patients, visitors and physicians.
NYS Licensed Respiratory Therapist
Registered Respiratory Therapist Certification
BLS Certification
FDNY certificate of fitness G-71 Required within 30 days of hire..

Required Licenses: Respiratory Therapy Tech-NYS.

Preferred Licenses: BLS - Grace Period, FDNY Cert of Fitness (G-71)

Preferred Qualifications:
NICU experience
Clinical instructor/educator

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $115,000.00 - $119,600.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
