Summary/Objective:

As the Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with clinical and administrative duties at our facility. You will be responsible for obtaining patient records and test results, coordinating daily administrative tasks, preparing treatment rooms for examinations, and assisting our practitioners during medical procedures.

Responsibilities:

● Greeting and communicating with patients in person or via phone or text messaging,

● Answering phone calls, responding to patient questions, verifying patient information and reasons for visits.

● Scheduling new and existing patients in accordance with practice guidelines,

● Communicate with Insurance Carriers to verify member benefits and complete prior authorizations for procedures and medications.,

● Prepare patients for the healthcare visit by accompanying them to the examining room.

● Complete diagnostic coding and procedure coding.

● keeping patient information confidential.,

● Perform preliminary physical tests; take blood pressure, weight, and temperature; report patient history summary.

● Collect and prepare laboratory specimens including blood, urine, and saliva.

● Perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests.

● Maintains medical supplies inventory and performs preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.

● Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit.

● Prepares or administers medications for patients as directed by providers based on License held.

● Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.

● Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

● Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.

● Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.

● Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

● At least one year experience working in a medical setting.

● High school diploma or GED required.

● Certification from a Medical Assistant program/Certified Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician or equivalent preferred.

● Basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope.

● Phlebotomy and EKG experience preferred.

● Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.

● Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems.

● Ability to walk, sit and stand for extended periods.

● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
