Director, School of Public Policy - College of Leadership and Public Service

The Director will lead the School of Public Policy in the College of Leadership and Public Service. This position will include managing the Master of Arts in Leadership and Public Service (LPS) and the Master of Public Administration (MPA) programs. Additionally, the position will supervise the Manager of Student Success.The Director will develop partnerships and coordinate with the Community andGovernment Director of Leadership and Public Service to support recruitment and fundraising across the state. This position reports to the Dean of the College and will coordinate with the Associate Dean of Academics on curriculum development.Oversee the curriculum, recruitment, scheduling, and operations of the LPS and MPA programsLead nationally recognized programs that develop leaders in Public Service, focusing on state and local issuesManage staffing of graduate programs, including the recruitment, scheduling, and assessment of instructorsSupervise and work collaboratively with the Manager for Student Success and the Program Coordinator to ensure the highest quality student experienceMaintain and develop strong relationships with key program partners and sponsorsAdmit graduate students and develop strategies to foster a strong pipeline of prospective studentsCultivate relationships with alumni of the School of Public Policy whilemaintaining an Alumni CouncilCultivate partnerships to expand support for students, including mentoring and career opportunitiesTeach assigned courses, educate and advise students who have widely diverse experiences and expectationsAssess and participate in continuous improvementParticipate in college and faculty meetingsDevelop research and publishing within the School of Public Policy incoordination with the Associate DeanBe open to diverse education delivery formatsOther duties as assigned.Education:Earned doctorate or terminal academic degree with an emphasis on at least one of the following areas: public policy, leadership, public administration, community development (Ph.D. or EdD preferred) or significant public policy experience with a desire to complete a terminal degreeExperience (preferred):Experience in leading organizations or experience in public serviceExperience in and evidence of building strong community/governmentalpartnerships, successful professional networks, and university teachingSkills:Knowledge of curriculum development and pedagogyExcellent speaking, communication, teaching, and presentation skillsCommitted work ethicPassion to be a national leader in educationExcellent interpersonal skills (including team leadership and facilitation ofcooperative endeavors)Work effectively in a collaborative environmentAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw validconclusions using dataKnowledge of adult learning theoryEffectively present information to various internal stakeholdersEffectively present information to various external stakeholders in local, state, and national venues.Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingDemonstrate a high degree of initiative and self-regulationHumilityStrong Christian faithOrganizedPossess knowledge of leadership theoryPossess organizational skills, handling and directing multiple and complex assignments and projectsAdvanced skills in Microsoft office suite programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google programsDemonstrate flexibility and resilienceAssistant/associate professor – depending on experience (determined by the Provost)Tenure TrackQualificationsEDUCATIONDoctorate or better in Public Administration or related fieldEXPERIENCEExperience in leading organizations or experience in public service Experience in and evidence of building strong community/governmental partnerships, successful professional networks, and university teachingJob SummaryRequisition Number: DIREC003220Job Category: FacultySchedule: Full-Time
