Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk, 1st shift

Hours Required: Monday – Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm with OT, weekends, and coverage for other shifts as required.

Position Description: This position supports the supply chain operations in the day to day shipping and receiving functions in the warehouse shipping office. Works effectively and efficiently to receive and schedule shipping and freight operations, including developing a working knowledge of warehouse organization and creating proper and detailed shipping documentation. Works with logistics, customer service and warehouse team to ensure customer satisfaction.

• Performs administrative duties like answering phones, updating records, and providing excellent customer service
• Works with forklift operators and carriers to ensure that orders are picked 
• Effectively uses organization systems and warehouse technology to locate and gather stock
• Updates spreadsheets and stock information
• Creates shipping labels and handles shipping information
• Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods. 
• Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor. 
• Maintains good relationship with Customer Service, monitors customer orders, and answers any customer service questions
• Keeps organized shipping records, including statements of origin, shipping costs, products shipped, and receipt dates
• Troubleshoots shipping issues and customer issues; works to solve these administrative or organizational problems to increase warehouse and dispatch efficiency
• Operates lift trucks or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas to pick orders or load trucks during periods of high activities.
• Operates the stretch wrap banders. 
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies. 
• Responsible for making arrangements for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions. 
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. 
• Completes incoming inspection testing, confirmation of certificate of conformance and reconciliation of receiving/purchase documentation. 
• Notifies and/or delivers incoming product to end user. 
• Completes daily receiving entries in computer system. Distributes to purchasing office for filing. 
• Responsible for managing all outbound shipments, including preparation of sequentially numbered paper work in software accounting system, management of packaging materials inventories, packaging of product to be shipped, and arrangement of transportation services. UPS/FedEx software is to be used effectively and understood for summary reporting on request. 
• Distributes documentation, including transfer of all original documents, to supervisor for distribution.
• Handles requests for product samples 
• Occasionally provides coverage for Warehouse Supervisors

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee primality works in an office environment but will also spend time in a refrigerated warehouse with the following conditions;

Exposure to wet and humid conditions occasionally

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours vary depending on the shift and department. Overtime and weekend work is required at times. Vacation coverage as needed.

Travel

None is required for this position. 

Required Education and Experience

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English
3. Computer Experience – Microsoft Office Products

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Clean driving record
2. 1 year of relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job
3. Experience working in a warehouse or food manufacturing environment 
4. Effective written and verbal communication skills
5. Familiar with software programs used in this job
6. Forklift Certification
7. SAP knowledge

Food Safety and Product Quality

This position is responsible for supporting the food safety management system and for communicating food safety issues to the Quality Department.
