Registered Nurse Emergency Department

Job Overview Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in the Emergency Department at American Fork Hospital. Shift Details Part time, 24 hours/week, variable shifts Weekend requirements: 4 shifts in a 4‑week period Responsibilities Assess patient physical, social, and psychological status, including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills. Collect and evaluate information from interdisciplinary team members. Collaboratively develop individualized care plans using assessment information and critical thinking skills. Involve patient, family, team, and physician in plan development. Prepare patients for further support needs, including education, referrals, and follow‑up. Direct interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration. Provide or delegate care consistent with the plan of care, guidelines, and professional licensure provisions. Set priorities and coordinate patient care delivery, effectively managing time, supplies, and resources. Evaluate patient response to interventions through review of goals, outcomes, and satisfaction. Revise plan of care as indicated and reassess changes as appropriate. Promote nursing profession and develop others, integrating legal and ethical standards into practice. Valid compact license transferred within 60 days of start of employment. Minimum one year of licensed RN experience in an emergency or high acuity setting. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (required as of 4/27/2025). Physical Requirements Ability to see, read, and assess patient needs and manipulate equipment. Frequent verbal communication with patients and staff; accurate listening. Manual dexterity for handling complex equipment, typing, and medication preparation. Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients, including heavy items. Capacity to stand for extended periods and move through crowded rooms. For roles requiring driving: ability to operate a vehicle safely.
