Inpatient Physical Therapist - PRN - Float Pool

Shift Details PRN, Day Shift, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm + Rotating Holidays and Weekends Inpatient Float Position, NICU and Adult Experience Strongly Preferred Must be willing to work at 3 medical centers minimum Responsibilities The Physical Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, administration, and oversight of evidence‑based physical therapy services provided to individuals with physical disabilities and/or functional limitations. They use specialized skills to promote prevention of dysfunction, restoration of function, and/or reversal of the progression of pathology to enhance quality of movement and daily living skills for individuals with physical disabilities and/or functional limitations. They develop and update appropriate plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family to assist in returning to their prior level of function. They act in accordance with physician referral guidelines, state and national organizational standards, regulatory agencies, and established departmental policies and procedures, embodying strong customer service skills and communicating concisely and tactfully with physicians, coworkers, caregivers, family members, patients, and other healthcare providers. Essential Functions Implement an individualized treatment plan through the use of skilled, evidence‑based therapy techniques, including therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, functional mobility training, activities of daily living training, and modalities as indicated. Provide verbal and written instructions to patients, caregivers, and family members as needed. Maintain current knowledge of physical therapy techniques through continuing education courses, professional journals, and DNV and Medicare requirements. Evaluate patients per the Department Operating Policy. Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning in synthesizing data gathered in the evaluation and identifying treatment diagnoses. Establish an appropriate, comprehensive plan of treatment with measurable, obtainable, and functional goals and a defined discharge plan. Perform ongoing evaluation of patient’s response to treatment to assure effective and appropriate provision of services as demonstrated through documentation. Maintain accurate and current documentation in the patient’s medical record as required by the profession and the department, including evaluations, daily treatment notes, updated individualized treatment plans, progress reports, discharge summaries, and daily patient charges. Complete billing and billing sheets according to department billing procedures and within established timeframes. Assume responsibility for role in achieving/maintaining financial stewardship by utilizing all resources effectively and efficiently. Confer with the interdisciplinary team to clarify treatment plan and discuss patient status when indicated. Consult with appropriate medical personnel regarding patient’s needs, status, and discharge plans. Provide timely, proactive feedback to case managers and other key personnel regarding discharge needs, including recommended discharge level of care and equipment needs as appropriate. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds as indicated. Communicate information and address concerns to achieve optimal treatment outcomes as demonstrated through feedback and documentation. Utilize effective communication and interpersonal skills to enhance and encourage collaborative staff relationships. Delegate appropriate patients to physical therapist assistants; supervise care delivered by the therapist assistants and assistive personnel, and provide updated plan of treatment and instruction to the same. Act as a resource for therapy‑related issues for therapy assistive personnel and staff from other departments. Assist in identifying department needs and process improvements. Contribute to the recruitment and retention of talented staff through positive role‑modeling and fostering peer relationships. Participate in departmental and interdepartmental staff meetings, in‑services, utilization review programs, committees, and student preceptor and/or mentor programs. Education Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy from an accredited university approved by the APTA, prior to starting employment. (Required) Master’s in or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited university approved by the APTA, prior to starting employment. (Preferred) Experience Other Network float position: six (6) months recent experience. (Preferred) Six (6) months experience. (Preferred) License and Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) – Certification Required Physical Therapist – License AZ State Board of Physical Therapy and/or PT Compact License. Current license issued by the Arizona Board of Physical Therapy that is in good standing, and/or Compact State Licensure.
