Access Associate

SUMMARY As an Access Associate, you will be responsible for many administrative support duties, such as greeting patients, performing check-in and check-out procedures and processing payments. This position requires a warm and inviting disposition, as you will be the first point of contact for our patients and their families. STATUS: Part-Time LOCATION: Newark-Wayne Community Hospital 1200 Driving Park Ave, Newark NY 14513 DEPARTMENT: Admitting ER SCHEDULE: Evening/Nights, EVERY weekend, Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 6:30 pm to 3:00 am, rotating Holidays RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service: Manage incoming calls while providing necessary information; greeting patients providing direction as needed and scheduling patient appointments. Registration & Verification: Complete the registration process for patients as defined by departmental policy; verify insurance eligibility/coverage and obtain necessary precertification/authorization when applicable. Billing & Payments: Collect and process payments when applicable. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS None PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 2-year degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred Intermediate computer skills Excellent customer service and communication skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67-100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver's license. PAY RANGE $17.85 - $20.00 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
