Senior Admissions and Records Specialist

Responsibilities This position serves both the mainframe and technical support positions, performing second level technical Service Desk support for Pasco County production operations. Provides hardware and software support for PCs, network/telecommunications system infrastructure equipment including installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting. Maintains and reports repairs for communication lines, infrastructure hardware and software. Serves as point‑of‑contact with vendors to schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance on computer and peripheral equipment. Advises, trains, and assists end users and fellow employees on system operations and usage. Performs various levels of security support in the production environment. Analyzes statistics and writes reports on system events and performance. Prepares Job Control Language (JCL) for scheduled production runs and adds special requests to various job streams. Uses automated functions to verify the order jobs will be submitted to the system and monitors completed schedule to ensure that the automated schedule was completed. Audits output of production jobs to verify completion and accuracy. Tracks execution and output steps of job processing. Maintains documentation on all applications systems that support County functions. Updates documentation manuals with new procedures and modifications to existing procedures. Interacts with applications programmers to resolve daily problems and advise them of incorrect processing. Safeguards the security of the Data Center. Provides back‑up for both the IT Technician I and Senior IT Technician positions. Performs related work as required. Technical Skills Ability to support software and productivity applications including MS Office, MS Project, MS Outlook, Internet Explorer and select proprietary applications. Ability to support User level OS for Windows 2000/2003/XP, Terminal Services and Citrix Metaframe. Ability to troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance for PCs, Thin Clients, laptops and printers. Ability to setup, support and troubleshoot VPN issues. Ability to follow established standards and make suggestions for improvement. Superior communication and interpersonal skills. Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting abilities. Experience with Access, Crystal Reports and SQL databases A+. Experience with Windows Servers and Active Directory A+. Experience with TCP/IP troubleshooting, Cisco hardware and VPN A+. Experience writing user documentation. Ability to accurately perform detailed tasks and adapt to changing work processes. Physical Skills Ability to communicate effectively using speaking, hearing, writing, and vision skills. Education, Training, and Experience Graduation from an accredited two‑year college or university with an Associate's degree in Computer Science or related field with one year experience in the installation, configuring and troubleshooting of personal computers and networks OR possession of a High School Diploma with four years experience in the installation, configuring and troubleshooting of personal computers and networks. Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations Must possess a valid driver's license. Comptia A+ certification or equivalent technical certificate preferred; required if applicant does not have an Associate's degree.
