Registered Nurse, Urgent Care - Full-Time, Rotating/Days

Job Description Be a part of a world‑class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Medical Group, as a Registered Nurse at our River East clinic. You will work alongside our Urgent Care team. This is a 100 % onsite opportunity and requires being based in the greater Chicagoland area. Located in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood, UChicago Medicine River East is a state‑of‑the‑art outpatient center offering a wide range of care services. In addition to those listed below, we also provide infusion therapy, laboratory services, and radiology services, including CT, MRI, mammography, X‑ray, DEXA scan and ultrasound. A Registered Nurse in the UCM Care Network is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients, including assessment, treatment planning, and medical care evaluation according to established standards, protocols, and regulations. The nurse serves as the primary liaison between patients, staff, and physicians and assists in coordinating patient care. Essential Job Functions Obtain patient consent for care and ensure patient confidentiality Obtain and document health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors, and assess disease conditions Provide patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations Execute prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administer prescribed medications, and monitor and document treatment progress and patient response Delegate tasks where allowed under the Nurse Practice Act; refer to or consult with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent or resolve problems or concerns Educate patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions Document patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms, automated systems, and documentation practices Participate in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes Track quality assurance data and monitor for acute and chronic care management Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information Post tests and examination results Respond to and refer incoming patient treatment‑related phone calls Maintain patient confidentiality Perform other duties assigned Required Qualifications Actively licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois Minimum of one year of professional nursing experience Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nursing Prior clinic experience Position Details Job Type/FTE: Full‑Time 1.0 FTE Shift: Rotating/Days – 8 am to 8 pm, every other weekend and holiday rotation Work Location: Onsite – River East Unit/Department: Urgent Care CBA Code: NNU National Nurses United – UCMG River East Equal Opportunity Employer Statement UChicago Medicine is an equal opportunity employer.
