Join our Flight Operations Team, a premier full-service flight test organization based in a cutting-edge 80,000 sq. ft. hangar at Niagara Falls International Airport (KIAG).Our dedicated team of experimental test pilots, engineers, mechanics, and technicians transforms bold ideas into airborne reality using our fleet of jet-powered testbeds.We're currently seeking an Aircraft Mechanic to join our dynamic team. If you thrive in a fast-paced, high-tech environment and want to work on groundbreaking projects, we want to hear from you!ResponsibilitiesService and maintain aircraft and ground support equipment. Responsible for mechanical soundness of aircraft. From drawings and sketches, layout, fabricate and install, special modifications without compromising aircraft structural integrity or accepted aircraft standards.Adhere to procedures and requirements outlined in the official Flight Research Operations Manual. Discuss discrepancies with designers as necessary. Inspect the work of Aircraft Mechanics as required. Sign off on inspections and aircraft log books as appropriate. Complete and sign off on aircraft logs and work sheets in the proper manner.Attend pre-flight and post flight briefings as necessary. Maintain, operate and troubleshoot complex research systems installed in the aircraft. Maintain currency in aircraft manuals, service bulletins.Interpret drawings, specifications, manuals and procedures for mechanics. Inspect size and soundness of fabricated parts and sub-assemblies intended for installation in aircraft.Perform or direct servicing, towing, starting and maintenance of the assigned aircraft and ground support equipment. Remove and install controls, electrical units, hydraulic components, engines and engine components.QualificationsPreferred Education and Experience:High school graduate or equivalentFormal aircraft mechanics trades trainingPossess an Airframe and Power Plant ratings5+ years experience in fieldPreferred Knowledge/Abilities:Layout, fabricate and install special modifications to the aircraft.Use of precision tools, measuring devices, instruments, etc.Required to adhere to procedures and requirements outlined in the official Flight Research Operations manual.Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.Why join Calspan?Be Calspan CultureAt Calspan, we promote an environment that empowers employees and encourages innovation.
