Clinical Director (Substance Use & Co-Occurring Disorders)

A growing behavioral health organization is seeking a Clinical Director to lead its residential substance use and co-occurring disorders program. This individual will serve as the clinical face of the organization, providing strategic leadership, oversight of clinical services, and supervision of multidisciplinary treatment staff.

Position Overview
The Clinical Director is responsible for the overall clinical integrity, compliance, and effectiveness of programming. This role ensures adherence to state regulatory requirements and accreditation standards while fostering a culture of clinical excellence, collaboration, and compassionate care.
The Clinical Director will provide leadership and supervision to clinical staff and may maintain a limited caseload, including group facilitation, psychoeducation, and direct clinical support as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of all clinical programming across the residential treatment program
• Ensure compliance with applicable state regulations and accreditation standards, including Joint Commission requirements
• Supervise and mentor clinical staff, including counselors, case managers, and behavioral health support staff
• Oversee documentation practices and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
• Support staff development through training, supervision, and performance evaluation
• Promote and implement trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment approaches
• Participate as a key member of the executive leadership team
• Maintain scheduling and staffing to ensure consistent delivery of care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality outcomes and continuity of care
• Assist with community outreach, education, and relationship-building with referral sources
• Provide direct clinical services as needed, including individual, group, family counseling, and psychoeducation

Qualifications
Education & Licensure:

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
• Licensed clinician required
• Dually licensed preferred for co-occurring environment (LADC/MH, LPC/LADC, LBHP/LADC, etc.)

Experience:

• Minimum 4 years of clinical experience within substance use and/or co-occurring disorder treatment
• Minimum 2 years in a leadership or clinical supervisory role
• Residential SUD treatment experience required

• Strong knowledge of dual diagnosis treatment and trauma-informed care
• Experience with evidence-based treatment modalities
• Familiarity with regulatory and accreditation standards
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to develop individualized treatment plans and oversee clinical programming
• Skilled in staff supervision, coaching, and performance management
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally
• Professional presence with ability to serve as representative of the organization

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed
• Ability to pass background screening and drug testing in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Flexibility to support occasional evening or weekend program needs
