Licensed Practical NurseSupport the health, safety, and well-being of students by providing direct nursing care, administering treatments and medications, monitoring health conditions, and assisting with the implementation of individualized health plans. Your daily efforts help students remain healthy, safe, and ready to participate in educational programs and activities.Core ResponsibilitiesPerforming treatments and procedures such as (but not limited to) soaks, recording vital signs and weight, medication administration, accompanying students on trips.Screening students for illnesses, including height, weight, scoliosis, vision, hearing.Administer first aid as needed using School Health Services medical policies.Communicate appropriately with School Nurse, school personnel and parents.Carry out medical providers' orders as required.Assist in implementation of Individualized Health Care Plans (IHCPs).Support medical accommodations in IEPs and Section 504 Plans.Maintain confidential student health records in compliance with FERPA/HIPAAWork under the direction of a Registered Nurse.Reinforce universal precautions and infection control practicesAdminister medications at other locations as needed under the direction of a licensed Registered Nurse.Prepare and administer medications as ordered, documenting administration and reactions.Work with diabetic students to assist in becoming self-directed.Assist with health-related aspects of behavioral intervention plans.Provide support during medical or behavioral crises in coordination with staffParticipate in de-escalation and safety protocols (if applicable, TCI-S aligned)Maintain accurate and timely student health documentation and logsReport communicable diseases and concerns per NYS Department of Health and Education guidelinesAssist with incident documentation related to student health eventsParticipate in building-level emergency response plans
