Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a Days position requiring 24 months of recent ICU experience and prior travel experience, with potential floating to Med Surg/stepdown units.

Details

• Intensive Care Unit with 5 ICU beds and 3 stepdown beds
• Patient ratios of 1:2, occasionally 1:3 during overflow
• Patient types include vent, BiPAP, AirVo, bariatric surgery, and general surgery cases
• Common drips administered include propofol, levophed, diltiazem, insulin, and heparin
• Days shift, 7a start, 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hrs/week with no 48-hour weeks
• Scheduled for every third weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Float required to Med Surg unit when ICU census is low or staff call in, with Med Surg patient types including bariatric surgery, ortho, and general med surg (1:5 ratio)
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• NIHSS certification preferred, may be obtained during onboarding
• Minimum 24 months of recent/current ICU experience required
• Travel nursing experience within the previous 24 months required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Comfort caring for 2-5 patients required
• Experience with telemetry reads/measures required
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• Professional reference from a supervisor, charge nurse, manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for critically ill ICU patients requiring ventilator, BiPAP, and AirVo support
• May float between ICU, stepdown, and Med Surg units based on facility needs
• Required to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Limited time-off requests allowed during the Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year holiday periods
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are subject to separation policy restrictions when applying through other markets
