Dock Clerk 1st Shift

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The dock clerk is under the direction of the Dock Supervisor. Dock clerk will have several different tasks to perform including shipping, receiving, warehousing, storage, lifting, material handling equipment, and clerical duties outlined by the dock supervisor. A dock clerk is normally under general supervision and will usually receive some instructions with respects to the details of the most assignments.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
• Process all products received stored and shipped
• Operates and maintains assigned Material Handling Equipment
• Coordinates with other departments within the organization to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of product received, stored and shipped.
• Ensure all applicable documents are prepared and forwarded to appropriate departments.
• Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices.
• Prepare and assist with cycle, quarterly and end-of-year inventories.
• Responsible for proper material handling techniques, as well as related procedures for processing, care and protection of product in storage areas.
• Familiar with the Cold Store Manager (CSM)/ Further Processing Tool Series (FPTS) program within the processing phase of the Receiving/Shipping duties.
• Perform duties in cold and wet environment (exposure to temperature ranges from minus 10° in freezer to 30°- 34° in the coolers.
• Perform duties in working conditions such as wet and slippery floors and high noise levels. Operate MHE when needed.
• Performs clerical duties answers the phone, schedules all appointments and closes out all paperwork.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :
• Dock Clerk requires a High School diploma or GED, as well as the ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to operate Material Handling Equipment (forklift/pallet jack) and maneuver safely in congested areas within the plant.
• Because of the nature of work environment, candidates will be required to pass a physical exam to ensure vision and physical capabilities, which include lifting and moving over 50 pounds.
• Ability to function effectively as a team leader/lead worker.
• Knowledge of Material facility practices (i.e. receiving, shipping, warehousing, storage, etc.)

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT : Hard hats, ear plugs or muffs, frocks, non-porous steel toe boots, hair nets, and beard nets must be worn at all times within the plant. Frocks are to remain in production areas unless they are to be replaced when soiled. Latex gloves must be worn when handling product or contacting sanitary surfaces.
