Elementary Teacher – Kindergarten

Serve as a Kindergarten classroom teacher who analyzes data and uses knowledge of the Michigan State Standards and the literacy essentials to develop and deliver targeted instruction to all students. Classroom teachers will work collaboratively with all members of their building grade-level teams to create caring and supportive learning environments.

Required Education/Certification

• Valid Michigan elementary teaching certificate

Preferred

Provide an educational program that meets the educational needs of each student in the teacher's area of responsibility.

Provide instruction consistent with District and school expectations and that meets the educational needs of all students assigned to the teacher.

Communicate with students, parents, administrators, and other staff members in a manner that is consistent with District and school expectations.

Maintain student records, organize resources, and foster a learning environment consistent with District and school expectations, while maximizing student learning.

Manage time, equipment, and materials efficiently and maintain a physical environment that is well-organized, safe, and student-focused.

Plan, prepare, and implement instruction and assessment used to measure student growth.

Honor and carry out the District initiatives and goals.

Participate in professional development opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.

We take great pride in our thorough hiring process in the Novi Community School District (NCSD). For all candidates applying for a position within the NEA, NASA, or for an office staff position within NESPA, we follow a comprehensive procedure to ensure we select the best candidates. For external candidates, the process begins with an online screener, which will be sent to applicants via email. It is crucial for candidates to regularly check their email for invitations to progress to the next step. All internal candidates will bypass this screener and be moved on to the next phase of the process.

Upon successful completion of the screener and the first phase of the process, qualified internal and/or external candidates for NEA and NASA positions will receive an email invitation for a one-way video interview. This stage is a crucial opportunity for candidates to showcase their qualifications. After reviewing the one-way video submissions, selected candidates will be contacted by phone for an in-person interview.

Candidates will have a two-business-day window to complete both the online screener and the video interview, so candidates should be prepared to dedicate some time to these parts of the process. It is critical that these deadlines are met, as candidates will be excluded from moving forward if they do not complete these components on time. We anticipate interviews being held in May and extending offers in early June.
