As a Certified Payment Specialist, you'll join a uniquely trained team that navigates the complexities of merchant services, especially in high-risk environments. You'll gain experience with diverse business models, marketing strategies, and technical solutions, and we'll support your growth through research, case studies, and training so you understand enterprise-level payment structures and can apply that knowledge with every merchant.

About the Role

Easy Pay Direct is looking for a results-driven Certified Payment Specialist to own client onboarding, the profitable growth of accounts, and long-term client management.

In this role, you'll onboard qualified merchants, work with underwriters, help new clients go live, and make sure they use our products effectively. You'll act as the primary point of contact for your assigned high-value merchants and maintain long-term relationships that drive account retention and growth.

Many of the merchants you'll support operate in high-risk categories, where approvals, risk management, and banking relationships take real expertise. Your job is to set each merchant up with a clear plan from the start and keep their accounts healthy as they grow.

The merchants you onboard and grow are the businesses EPD Commerce is built for. As agentic commerce brings AI agents into how they sell and get paid, you'll be the trusted payments partner they rely on.

This role can be remote or based in our East Austin office, and we're happy to support candidates who are open to relocating to Austin.

Quick Snapshot

• Location: Remote or Onsite in East Austin, TX
• Compensation: $70,000 to $75,000 base salary plus monthly commissions (OTE $85,000 to $100,000)
• Reports To: VP of Operations
• Experience Requirement: 2+ years of high-risk merchant services experience

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, you'll:

• Run verification calls and onboarding confidently, collecting complete documentation in as few interactions as possible.
• Deliver a personalized 12-month Payment Strategy for each new client and track milestones against it.
• Build strong working relationships with underwriters that speed up new account approvals.
• Keep your assigned accounts aligned with their Payment Strategy by monitoring chargebacks, declines, and other key metrics.
• Increase MID utilization within the EPD footprint across your book of business.
• Recover at-risk accounts through salvage efforts and alternative processor sourcing when needed.
• Build a referral pipeline that consistently brings in new business.
• Contribute to training, SOP feedback, and initiatives that improve closure rates for the CPS team.

What You'll Do

• Lead verification calls, guide merchants through the onboarding process, and verify documents.
• Create personalized 12-month Payment Strategies for new clients.
• Act as the primary point of contact between merchants and underwriters, facilitating new account approvals and managing existing assigned accounts.
• Process applications, establish rapport, and set expectations for transaction volume and banking diversification.
• Proactively identify and address risk issues.
• Aim for one-call closes by collecting all necessary documents and information in a single interaction.
• Track key merchant account metrics, including chargebacks and declines, to keep accounts aligned with their Payment Strategy.
• Follow up on Payment Strategy milestones and maximize MID utilization within the EPD footprint.
• Conduct salvage efforts for closed accounts and help source alternative processors as needed.
• Build and nurture a referral pipeline to attract additional business and expand the client base.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with prospects, clients, underwriters, and internal support staff.
• Take part in training and mentoring, help deliver training, and give constructive input to peers.
• Contribute to projects that improve the effectiveness of sales, the CPS group, and the company, including feedback on SOPs and initiatives to improve closure rates.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in high-risk merchant services.
• A proven track record working with high-risk businesses.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Tech-savvy, with in-depth experience using CRMs and industry systems.

Strongly Preferred

• Experience managing a dedicated book of high-value merchants.
• Underwriting experience.

Nice-To-Have Experience

• Risk management and sales support.
• A systems-oriented approach and strong attention to detail.
• Quick thinking.
