Registered Nurse NICU, Full Time, Days

Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care in an evidence‑based manner, practicing within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act and all applicable regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies. The RN performs all steps of the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—while coordinating care with other providers and serving as a teacher to patients and families. Essential Functions Assess patients by collecting and documenting data through interview, history, and physical assessment. Interpret assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and monitor patient status. Develop and implement care plans in accordance with established standards of care. Evaluate effectiveness of interventions, monitor for adverse responses, and initiate appropriate action. Document patient and family understanding and provide education for self‑care and illness prevention. Create a healing environment by providing emotional support and managing discomfort. Report ethical and legal issues to appropriate authority and complete incident reports. Maintain a safe, compassionate environment for all ages, incorporating growth and development principles. Participate in departmental and hospital committees and support strategic goals. Adhere to the C‑I‑CARE Standards for patient‑centered interactions. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience and 1 year of NICU experience. License/Certification: Current California RN license; American Heart Association BLS; NRP certification. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong communication skills, with reading, writing, and verbal fluency in English. Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities. Competence in using technology to manage knowledge, reduce errors, and support decision‑making. Team‑player mindset while capable of autonomous practice. Positive influence on others to meet patient needs and shared goals. Prioritization skills to deliver high‑quality, value‑added patient care. Knowledge of current trends in healthcare and hospital administration for clinical leadership and operational direction.
