ABOUT THE POSITION:

We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Lumber Yard / Warehouse Associate to join our team. This is a hands-on role that involves physical work, operating equipment, and helping customers get what they need. If you’re experienced, dependable, and ready to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment—we want to hear from you!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Material Handling: Load and unload lumber and building materials from trucks and assist in storing them in the appropriate locations within the yard.
• Inventory Control: Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels, including conducting regular counts and reporting any discrepancies.
• Customer Service: Assist customers in locating and selecting the products they need, providing guidance, and ensuring their overall satisfaction.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect materials for defects and ensure they meet quality standards before being distributed to customers.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to transport and organize materials.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe work environment.
• Yard Maintenance: Keep the lumber yard clean and organized, including sweeping, removing debris, and maintaining a well-organized workspace.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues to achieve common goals and assist in other areas of the lumber yard as needed.
• Communication: Effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, and customers to ensure the smooth flow of operations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 1 year of experience in:

• Operating a forklift
• Working as a general laborer or in a warehouse
• Construction or building supplies (knowledge of lumber, tools, or related materials is a plus)
• Providing customer service , demonstrating strong communication and problem-solving skills

Additional Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid U.S. Driver License
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Commitment to safety
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Basic math skills and the ability to learn a point-of-sale (POS) system

Preferred:

• Previous experience in a lumber yard or similar setting
• Forklift operation certification (training may be provided)
• Spanish-speaking ability

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• This position requires year-round outdoor work and exposure to various weather conditions.
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and heavy lifting is common in this role.
• Weekend and flexible hours may be required to meet customer demand.
