Project Manager-SEALC Phase II

Job Summary The Project Manager for the Southeast Asian Language Council (SEALC) is a 50% position at the University of Wisconsin‑Madison, serving as the primary day‑to‑day administrator for SEALC programs and the "Toward Sustainable Southeast Asian Language Education: Collaboration, Access, and Capacity Building" grant‑funded project, which will run through August 31, 2029. Key Job Responsibilities Manages the activities of outside contractors to ensure integration into the project and satisfactory service standards. Prepares regular reports to communicate project status within and beyond the project team. Facilitates estimation of project costs, resources, and time required, monitors activities, negotiates resources, and assigns tasks, following established change control processes when necessary. Creates a project plan, monitors progress and performance against the plan, and identifies, resolves, or escalates risks and issues. Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and collaborates with project staff to meet targets and milestones. Responsibilities Project Communication and Coordination Build collaborative relationships with North American centers and programs, maintain communication with leadership of SEASSI, support the SEALC‑GETSEA committee, collaborate with COTSEAL and language groups, communicate SEALC’s value to students and stakeholders, and maintain communication with project staff, committee members, curriculum developers, workshop hosts, presenters, and participants. Planning and executing grant events and initiatives Plan and execute professional development workshops, project awards, and tuition awards; develop workshops, advertise, manage participant selection, create and distribute pre‑ and post‑workshop surveys, arrange travel, coordinate honoraria and invoices, write summary reports, and publish information on the SEALC website. Managing SEALC administrative tasks Create agendas, attend and take minutes of SEALC meetings, maintain the WordPress website, create web pages for workshops, utilize social media, send newsletters, and assist the PI in annual reports. Other duties as needed . Qualifications Required Qualifications: Excellent oral and written communication; Plain Language Series certificate (or ability to obtain after hire); strong administrative, time‑management and attention‑to‑detail skills; proficiency with Google Suite, Qualtrics, Word, Excel, Zoom, Box or other collaboration tools; experience with WordPress, list‑serv mailings, and social media; experience managing hybrid workshops or trainings; availability to travel and occasional night/weekend work. Preferred Qualifications: Project management experience, preferably in an academic institution; ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, multilingual team; academic or professional experience in Southeast Asia. Education Required bachelor's degree; academic concentration in Southeast Asian Studies preferred.
