Data Management Specialist

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Data Management Specialist for the University of Charleston. This position offers a competitive salary range of $79,600.00 - $143,300.00 annually and is located in Charleston County, SC. The job is full-time and the application period is open from 06/15/2026 to 7/10/2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time (US & Canada).

Job Responsibilities

The Data Management Specialist will be responsible for:

• Collaborating with IT, Institutional Research, and campus stakeholders to design and build automated data pipelines supporting the enterprise data lake architecture.
• Developing and maintaining ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and integrate data from multiple systems into the data lake.
• Managing the lifecycle of institutional data to ensure integrity, accuracy, consistency, and availability across the platform.
• Supporting and maintaining Ellucian Banner ODS integrations and related data flows.
• Implementing and enforcing data governance practices, including metadata management, data quality standards, and data lineage tracking.
• Partnering with stakeholders to ensure secure and compliant use of data, including adherence to FERPA and institutional policies.
• Evaluating and integrating emerging technologies, including AI tools, ensuring proper governance, security controls, and cost awareness.
• Establishing and maintaining data tracking, validation, and quality assurance processes to ensure reliability of analytical outputs.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Math, or a related field and five years of applicable experience in data analysis and warehousing is required. Relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree is preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
