We are seeking a Solution Designer to join our team.


This role will involve designing, integrating, and validating SCADA, EMS, and DMS solutions for power and utility organizations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in electrical data modeling, power system applications, database design, and system integration, along with a passion for delivering reliable, high-availability control center solutions.

Job Description:


The Solution Designer is responsible for end-to-end integration, configuration, and validation of SCADA, EMS, and DMS solutions for electric utilities, TSOs, and ISOs. As a Solution Designer , you will focus on system-level solution design rather than pure product development, ensuring seamless integration across control center applications, field devices, and enterprise systems.


The Solution Designer works closely with utility stakeholders to understand functional and operational requirements and translate them into technical designs, configurations, and test plans. This role includes electrical network data modeling, database configuration, interface mapping, and display development for real-time control room environments.


As a Solution Designer , you will lead integration testing, performance tuning, and troubleshooting activities, supporting deployments, commissioning, and system cutovers. The Solution Designer also contributes to documentation, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives while remaining flexible to travel to customer or customer-identified sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Integrate, configure, and validate SCADA/EMS/DMS solutions for utility control center environments (8+ years experience).
• Perform electrical data modeling for transmission and distribution networks, including topology, measurements, controls, and alarms (5+ years experience).
• Configure and integrate advanced power system applications such as State Estimation, Power Flow, Contingency Analysis, and Automatic Generation Control (AGC) (5+ years experience).
• Develop and migrate operator displays, HMIs, single-line diagrams (SLDs), dashboards, and reports (5+ years experience).
• Design and execute system integration, regression, and performance test plans; support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and cutover activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration and performance issues by analyzing logs, configurations, and protocol traces.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation including solution designs, configuration guides, test reports, and runbooks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and utility stakeholders to ensure successful solution delivery.

Required Skills & Experience:

• SCADA/EMS/DMS Solutions: 8-15 years of experience in solution design, integration, and configuration.
• Power System Applications: Experience with Power Flow, State Estimation, Contingency Analysis (N-1), AGC, alarms, and calculations (5+ years).
• Platforms & Tools: Hands-on experience with GE PowerOn Reliance (XA21), AEMS Platform, GE eTerra, PowerOn Advantage, or equivalent platforms from Siemens, OSI, ABB, or Schneider (5+ years).
• Display & Visualization: HMI development, SLD creation, real-time dashboards, and operator displays (5+ years).
• Programming & Scripting: C, C++, Java, PERL, or similar languages for system integration and scripting (3-5+ years).
• Databases: Strong expertise in Oracle / PL-SQL, with experience in database design, performance tuning, indexing, and monitoring (5+ years).
• Data Handling: Real-time data acquisition, historian integration, data replication, and logging (3-5+ years).
• Performance & Monitoring: Query optimization, database health monitoring, and system performance tuning (3-5+ years).
• Utility Domain Knowledge: Understanding of transmission and/or generation operations, grid topology, substations, voltage levels, and control center processes (3-5+ years).

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
