Associate Director, Strategic Planning & Operations

**Position Summary** Amgen is seeking a dynamic and highly strategic Associate Director of Strategic Planning & Operations to serve in a dual role as Chief of Staff to the VP of AI&D Innovation Lab & Partnerships and VP of AI & Data Science. This leader will play a central role in orchestrating strategic planning, operational excellence, cross-functional alignment, and organizational readiness across AI&D initiatives. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, matrixed environments and can move seamlessly between strategy, operations, communications, and delivery. **Key Responsibilities** **Strategic Leadership & Planning** + Serve as a thought partner to executive leadership; drive departmental priorities and long-range planning. + Coordinate 2025-2026 planning activities, including portfolio strategy, headcount forecasting, and budgeting. + Shape and run annual operating rhythms (QBRs, portfolio reviews, LT offsites, staff meetings, and readouts). **Chief of Staff to** **2** **AI&D VP** **s** + Handle everyday execution of departmental strategy, supporting cross-functional priorities, key decisions, and follow-through. + Own agenda planning, coordination, and facilitation for leadership meetings and offsites. + Serve as the connective tissue across AI&D leaders, tracking key initiatives and ensuring alignment. **Organizational Operations** + Drive internal communications, cultural rituals, and cross-departmental engagement. + Support organizational design activities, including new roles, staff transitions, and capability mapping. **Cross-Functional Collaboration** + Partner with Finance, HR, Tech, and Comms to support budget, talent, and engagement strategies. + Lead departmental communications strategy and content calendar, including newsletters, events, and executive updates. + Coordinate closely with Product and Program Leads to support project intake, prioritization, and delivery oversight. **Qualifications** **Basic Qualifications** + Doctorate degree and 3 years of Strategic Planning and Operations experienceORMaster's degree and 5 years of Strategic Planning and Operations experienceORBachelor's degree and 7 years of Strategic Planning and Operations experienceORAssociate's degree and 12 years of Strategic Planning and Operations experienceORHigh school diploma / GED and 14 years of Supply Planning and Operationsexperience **Preferred Qualifications** + MBA or advanced degree in strategy, management, or related field + Experience in life sciences, biotech, or AI/data-driven organizations + Exceptional executive presence, judgment, and communication skills + Proven track record leading strategic initiatives and operating with agility + Expertise with executive-level presentation, change management, and cross-functional planning + High EQ and comfort navigating ambiguity with diplomacy and influence **What You Can Expect from Us** Join a team that is driving innovation at the intersection of science and technology.
