Health Economics Analyst

Overview Compiles, analyzes, and interprets healthcare clinical and utilization data for the health plan’s Data Science & Health Economics Team. Follows analysis design plans and leverages relevant data to support strategic business decisions related to health care spending and revenue. Conducts analysis according to the analysis plan and develops reports, tables, visualizations, and other supporting documentation to disseminate findings to business.. Works under general supervision. Conducts data-driven analysis; ensures deliverables are met and prepares presentations and reports. Provides summary report based on analysis. Ensures data quality throughout all stages of acquisition and processing, including data sourcing/collection, ground truth generation, normalization, and transformation. Summarizes medical cost trends to identify underlying patterns in member utilization. Runs reports and documents methodology, protocols, analysis, and design as directed. Works with clinical operations, business owners, or IT to understand how VNS Health applications enter and commit data records into database systems to ensure that data captured in the front-end of these applications are accurately represented in analyses and reports. Develops and maintains reproducible code and queries to extract and prepare data for further analyses. Responds to business requests with descriptive reports in a timely manner. Uses ad-hoc requests to gain knowledge of business and data systems. Supports development of presentations, dashboards and reports to share findings and recommendations with non-technical audiences, as directed. Participates in special projects and other duties as assigned. Stays abreast of new health policies and alternative payment models. Estimates impact to the health plan’s core business model and provides actionable recommendations, as directed. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Econometrics, Epidemiology, Health Administration or other related degree required Master's Degree preferred Work Experience: Minimum of two years of data analysis experience in a healthcare setting required Experience using statistical software (e.g. R, Python, SAS) required Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills required Knowledge of relational databases and programming experience in SQL preferred Experience with R-Shiny and business intelligence applications preferred Experience with medical claims and health assessment data (e.g. OASIS, UAS-NY) preferred Knowledge of Medicare and NYS Medicaid payment policy and alternative payment models (e.g. BPCI, PDGM Value Based Payments, dual-risk models, Hospice Final Rule) preferred Pay Range USD $37.24 - USD $46.53 /Hr.
