Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Cancer Institute (NCI) Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD) Cancer Imaging Program (CIP) Physician (Clinical) The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is recruiting for a Physician (Clinical) in the Clinical Trials Branch (CTB), Cancer Imaging Program (CIP). The CIP is part of the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD), an extramural division of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH). This is a full-time government position in Rockville, Maryland. The Physician (Clinical) will serve as a medical officer within the Clinical Trials Branch and provide scientific and clinical expertise in the development, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of oncology imaging clinical trials. The incumbent will work closely with investigators from academia, industry, cooperative groups, and other Federal agencies to advance innovative imaging technologies and molecular imaging approaches that improve cancer diagnosis, staging, treatment planning, and assessment of therapeutic response. The position plays a key role in integrating advanced imaging biomarkers and imaging endpoints into early- and late-phase clinical trials while supporting the development and clinical evaluation of novel imaging agents, radiopharmaceuticals, and theranostic approaches. The incumbent will provide medical and scientific leadership in the review and management of clinical trial concepts, protocols, cooperative agreements, grants, and contracts related to oncology imaging. The position requires close collaboration with NCI-sponsored clinical trial networks, including the National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN), the Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN), and other national and international research partners to facilitate the incorporation of state-of-the-art imaging technologies into cancer clinical research. The Physician (Clinical) will also represent the Cancer Imaging Program at scientific meetings, workshops, and advisory committees and will foster collaborations that accelerate the translation of innovative imaging strategies into clinical practice. The ideal candidate will have extensive clinical and research experience in Nuclear Medicine or Radiology, with significant expertise in molecular imaging, radiopharmaceuticals, theranostics, PET/CT, SPECT/CT, and quantitative imaging biomarkers in oncology. Experience in diagnostic radiology or other oncology imaging disciplines is highly desirable. The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in the design, conduct, and oversight of oncology clinical trials, a strong understanding of clinical research and regulatory processes, and experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across academic institutions, industry, and Federal agencies. The candidate should also possess outstanding scientific leadership, communication, and collaborative skills, with a commitment to advancing innovative imaging research that improves outcomes for patients with cancer.
