Inpatient - Speech Language Pathologist (Day Shift), United States This full‑time inpatient Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will support a range of diagnoses at the IRF level, including cerebrovascular accident (CVA), spinal cord injury (SCI), brain injury, debility, and dysphagia/voice. About Mary Free Bed Mary Free Bed is a not‑for‑profit, nationally accredited rehabilitation hospital that serves thousands of children and adults each year through inpatient, outpatient, sub‑acute rehabilitation, orthotics and prosthetics, and home and community programs. Age‑Specific Responsibility Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned department. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age‑specific needs. Summary Assumes full responsibility for evaluating patients’ need for speech therapy, planning and executing individual treatment programs in accordance with ASHA and SLP scope of practice, and maintaining treatment skills through continuing education, evidence‑based research, and program development. Essential Job Responsibilities Staff will provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification, or registration and as required by law and regulation. Responsibilities include evaluating patient condition, establishing treatment goals in collaboration with patient, family, and treatment team, documenting progress, communicating with interdisciplinary team members, instructing patients and families on speech language procedures, and participating in discharge planning, among others. Staff are expected to meet or exceed program productivity expectations, adhere to hospital policies, and support program operations and development. Customer Service Responsibilities Demonstrate excellent customer service standards, encourage, coach, and monitor the same in team members, promote teamwork and direct communication, handle confidential information discreetly, and contribute to quality improvement by identifying problems and seeking solutions. Essential Job Qualifications M.S. or M.A. in Speech Pathology from an accredited university program. Licensure required in every U.S. State and Territory where the therapist practices or is in clinical fellowship; SLP‑CCC required for Medicaid billing in certain states (DC, NC, WV, KY, MN, NE, KS, NM, NV, ID). Possession and maintenance of BLS certification. Physical Requirements None for stationary position. Occasional need to traverse work location, use keyboard, operate department equipment, or handle up to 10 lbs.
