Position SummaryThe Associate Director of Financial Aid for Student Engagement provides strategicleadership and operational oversight for student-facing financial aid services,outreach, and engagement initiatives. This role is responsible for enhancing thestudent and family experience by ensuring clear communication, proactive outreach,and equitable access to financial aid resources. The Associate Director collaboratesclosely with campus partners to support student success, retention, and completionwhile ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aidregulations.Job ResponsibilitiesStudent Engagement and Outreach:• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive studentengagement strategy for financial aid, including outreach to prospective,current, and special population students (e.g., first-generation, low-income,transfer, adult learners).• Oversee financial aid communications, ensuring messaging is clear, accurate,timely, and student-centered across multiple platforms (email, website, socialmedia, presentations, and events).• Coordinate and deliver financial aid workshops, information sessions,orientations, and financial literacy programming for students and families.• Serve as a primary advocate for the student experience within the Office ofFinancial Aid, using data and feedback to inform service improvements.Leadership and Supervision:• Supervise and mentor professional and/or support staff responsible forstudent services, outreach, and front-line financial aid operations.• Establish priorities, manage workloads, and ensure processing deadlines aremet.• Recommend and implement process improvements and technologyenhancements to improve the student experience and operational efficiency.• Contribute to strategic planning and annual goal setting for the Office ofFinancial Aid.• Manage and evaluate third-party partnerships related to the financial aidstudent experience ensuring services align with institutional goals,compliance requirements, and student-centered values.Other Duties as AssignedMinimum Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited institution.• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in financial aid administration.• Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and compliancerequirements.• Proven experience in student engagement, outreach, or customer service leadership.• Supervisory or team leadership experience.• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Special Instructions to ApplicantsEmployment is contingent upon successfully completing a criminal background check as mandated by Tennessee State University.Official transcripts for positions which require a post-secondary undergraduate degree, advanced degree and/or certification must be presented upon hire.An unofficial transcript may be attached in the “Transcript” section.You will be required to provide names and contact information for three references during your application to the posting.
