We're seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the design, analysis, and optimization of the mechanical components and sub-assemblies that make up our automated material handling solutions. Responsibilities Contribute to the mechanical design of Boxbot's automated storage and retrieval systems, including structural frames, motion control mechanisms, and material handling components Perform detailed 3D CAD modeling, engineering analysis, and design validation using advanced simulation tools Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, controls, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration Develop and maintain mechanical design standards, guidelines, and best practices Participate in the product development lifecycle, contributing to the conceptualization, prototyping, and testing of new mechanical systems Identify opportunities for design improvements to enhance the performance, reliability, and manufacturability of our products Support the transition of designs from development to production Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues that arise during deployment and field service activities Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the industrial automation, robotics, or material handling industries Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD, motion simulation) Strong background in mechanical system design, including mechanisms, structures, and motion control components Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, and design for manufacturability principles Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment Strong written and verbal communication skills to present design concepts and technical information What We Offer Opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation technology with real-world impact Collaborative and innovative work environment Competitive salary and benefits package Career growth opportunities in a rapidly expanding company Chance to play a key role in high-stakes projects We are headquartered in Alameda, CA with an easy commute via Bart, Ferry, Amtrak and free parking.
