Director of Clinical Operations (Pavilion for Women)

In this highly collaborative leadership role, you will partner closely with physicians, service chiefs, clinic leaders, and organizational stakeholders to translate strategy into results. The ideal candidate is an accomplished ambulatory healthcare leader who brings strong business acumen, a passion for developing people, and the ability to lead complex operations and strategic initiatives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAmbulatory Operations & QualityProvide strategic and operational leadership for assigned ambulatory services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, age-appropriate and family-centered care and services. Monitor and improve key performance indicators related to patient experience, complaints, quality, regulatory compliance, performance improvement, and operational effectiveness. Identify opportunities to improve workflows, efficiency, patient safety, and overall service delivery. Lead the implementation of new programs, initiatives, and operational improvements. Financial & Business PerformanceOversee the financial performance of assigned operations, including annual operating and capital budgets. Monitor financial performance through variance analysis, revenue and expense trends, billing performance, and other key business measures. Identify opportunities to enhance revenue, manage expenses, and improve operational efficiency. Apply healthcare business principles to support sustainable growth and organizational priorities. Physician & Cross-Functional PartnershipBuild strong, collaborative relationships with physicians, service chiefs, clinic managers, and organizational leaders. Partner across departments to address operational needs, advance strategic priorities, and achieve shared outcomes. Lead and participate in interdisciplinary committees, work groups, and initiatives supporting Texas Children’s organizational goals. People & Culture LeadershipLead, develop, and support leaders and team members to drive individual, team, and departmental performance. Foster a positive, accountable, service-oriented work environment that supports physician and employee engagement. Provide ongoing coaching, performance management, and professional development. Strategy & Performance ImprovementDevelop and execute departmental priorities aligned with Texas Children’s strategic objectives. Support regulatory and accreditation readiness, including compliance with applicable Joint Commission requirements. These responsibilities reflect the major areas contained in the current JD, including quality, cost-effective operations, employee/physician satisfaction, strategic priorities, talent management, budgets, performance reporting, and regulatory compliance. Knowledge & SkillsStrong knowledge of healthcare administration, ambulatory/clinic operations, healthcare finance, and managed care. Demonstrated ability to lead complex operations and drive measurable performance improvement. Strong business and financial acumen. Exceptional collaboration, communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively partner with physicians, clinical leaders, operational leaders, and stakeholders across multiple levels of an organization. Strong project management, problem-solving, and change leadership capabilities. Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities within a complex, fast-paced healthcare environment.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:EducationMaster’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or Business Administration required. ExperienceMinimum of five (5) years of formal management experience in an ambulatory setting required. Offering a full spectrum of maternal and fetal medicine services, including an array of fetal diagnostic procedures and highly specialized fetal surgeries, the Pavilion for Women is connected to Texas Children’s Hospital via a two-story circular sky bridge to enhance patient care by providing physicians, staff and patient families with rapid access to other pediatric subspecialists. Three private OB/GYN practices, The Family Fertility Center, The Menopause Center and The Women’s Place – Center for Reproductive Psychiatry are all housed here.
