Allocation Analyst

General Summary Allocation Analysts manage optimal deployment of merchandise to stores within their assigned Category(s). Major functions include splitting merchandise between distribution centers, building effective allocation execution plans, optimizing allocation and flow of product to stores, and providing in‑depth performance reviews with analytics‑based recommendations for future improvements. The primary goal is to achieve optimum inventory levels at distribution centers and stores by managing inventory‑turn disparity across volume groups for each category season in order to maximize sales and profitability. Analysts work closely with business partners to resolve store inventory issues and support Dollar Tree and Family Dollar’s store‑centric commitment to customer service, inventory productivity, and sales. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Develop and execute inventory deployment strategy for ~700–1,000 SKUs with annual sales of $110–150million. Split purchase orders in appropriate quantities to distribution centers to maximize store service levels and department turn while maintaining balanced inventory at all DCs and retail locations. Allocate and replenish items weekly in accordance with department strategy and merchant vision, maintaining appropriate store inventory levels. Analyze sales history to support event quantities by location for all event/seasonal SKUs, ensuring timely allocation and replenishment of items attached to events or ads. Collaborate with Merchant, Assortment Planner, and Financial Planner to align allocations with department sales and turn goals. Communicate business trends to other departments, attend weekly category performance review meetings, and contribute value‑added insights. Monitor seasonal inventory held at DCs and ensure timely release to stores. Perform other duties as assigned that support the allocation function. Position Requirements Office work environment; 40+ work hours per week. Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university, or an Associate’s degree with additional experience or training (preferred). One to three years of retail store experience and/or merchandise allocation experience (desirable). Strong organizational and prioritization skills, problem‑solving ability, and capacity to meet stringent deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word); ability to develop, manipulate, format, and share spreadsheets for analysis.
