Surgical Technologist

Job Title: Surgical Technologist at Orlando Ophthalmology Surgery Center Responsibilities The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures. Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Surgery Center and participates in quality improvement activities. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED; completion of a Surgical Technician or Scrub Technician Program and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification as required by state and/or center. Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of surgical patients. Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation. Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient conditions. Excellent teamwork and strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, engage patients, and coordinate with physicians. General familiarity with medical terminology related to anatomy and surgical procedures in the OR. Physical Demands Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Work environment includes regular exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, and risk of radiation. Occasional work near moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
