Job Description Under general supervision of the Clerk of Court, the Court Supervisor 4 will oversee daily operations and supervise clerical staff for the Anchorage In‑Court Civil Division. Responsibilities include: Orienting and training staff in court and departmental policies, procedures, rules, and statutes. Interviewing and hiring prospective employees, evaluating performance, and dismissing personnel with supervisory review when necessary. Assigning, scheduling, and prioritizing work; monitoring accuracy and completeness; counseling employees on performance issues; administering progressive disciplinary measures. Planning, organizing, and improving workflows for maximum efficiency. Ensuring clerks are trained across Civil, CINA, Probate, and Mental Commitment divisions to provide adequate coverage. Interpreting new rules and statutes, developing and implementing updated procedures, and preparing written instructions. Troubleshooting recorder and related equipment; assisting with setting up video equipment for hearings and playback. Serving as an in‑court clerk as needed to provide coverage for District and Superior Court Civil, CINA, Probate, and Mental Commitment hearings; assisting with importing documents into OnBase once implemented. Acting as a senior staff resource to the Clerk of Court and Area Court Administrator on in‑court procedures, recommending and assisting with procedural changes, preparing reports and data, and participating in meetings on case processing. Responding to inquiries from internal and external customers regarding in‑court procedures and case files. Performing other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge of the principles of supervision, management, and training. Knowledge of the structure and function of the Alaska Court System. Skill to operate standard and specialized office software and database applications. Ability to apply and interpret court rules, policies, and procedures. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, organize and assign work to subordinates. Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically and accurately, and draw valid conclusions. Work cooperatively with others and gain their respect and confidence. Function with a high degree of initiative, independence, and discretion. Provide technical assistance to staff.
