Practical Solutions Counseling is actively searching for a dedicated and licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who is bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese, to join our dynamic team in Vancouver, Washington. This full-time, remote position offers the flexibility to provide in-community therapeutic services, with a strong focus on improving the well-being of children and adolescents facing developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges.

This position allows for flexible remote work, requiring therapists to conduct in-home or outpatient therapy sessions. Key Responsibilities\n

  • Deliver individual and/or group therapy sessions tailored to the specific needs of young clients within their homes or in our outpatient center.

  • Implement targeted interventions such as anger management, coping strategies, and social skills training while addressing high-risk behaviors like self-injurious behavior (SIB) or physical aggression.
  • \n
  • Support caregivers in enhancing their decision-making skills to effectively manage behavioral challenges at home.
  • \n
  • Engage in continuous collaboration with the Child Family Treatment Team, which includes professionals from various disciplines, to coordinate comprehensive care for each child and their family.

  • Maintain thorough documentation of all therapeutic services provided, including initial intake assessments, treatment plans, and ongoing progress notes.
  • \n
  • Participate in monthly meetings to share insights and recommendations, fostering a community of support among staff and families.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

This role primarily focuses on providing therapeutic services to children aged 3-20 who are navigating significant challenges related to developmental and intellectual disabilities. By implementing tailored therapeutic strategies, the therapist will address not only the mental health needs of the youth but also the parenting challenges faced by caregivers, ensuring a holistic approach to family support.

  • A Master’s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related mental health field is required.

  • An active and unrestricted LMFT license to practice in the state of Washington is mandatory.
  • \n
  • Availability to work a minimum of 5-10 hours per week during early evening hours, with flexibility for weekends being a valuable asset.

  • A valid driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle are essential for travel to client locations.
  • \n
  • Completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is required prior to employment.

Preferred Experience\n

  • Experience in providing positive behavior support strategies is highly desirable.

  • Prior work involving children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) enhances candidacy.

Compensation and Benefits\n
