Clinical Manager (Outpatient) Opportunity:
The Outpatient Clinical Manager is a licensed mental health professional responsible for providing clinical leadership, oversight, and direction to Outpatient Behavioral Health staff across North Central Health Care's outpatient clinics. This position advances clinical practice through supervision, case consultation, workforce development, and implementation of evidence-based practices while promoting high-quality, client-centered care.
The Clinical Manager provides guidance in complex clinical decision-making, documentation standards, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives, while supporting clinicians in achieving professional growth and maintaining excellence in service delivery. The position also oversees clinical onboarding, supports in-training therapists working toward licensure, facilitates continuing education, and promotes consistency in clinical practice across all outpatient locations.
The Clinical Manager partners with Nursing, Psychiatry, Patient Access, Community Treatment, Acute Care Services, and community stakeholders to strengthen care coordination, improve access to services, and ensure a seamless continuum of behavioral health care while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Get:
- The starting pay range for this role is $100,090 - $108,992 based on education and experience.
- This job is a full-time, in person position, usually working business hours on weekdays.

- As a full-time employee of NCHC, you are eligible for the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). The WRS is a hybrid defined benefit plan. It contains elements of both a 401(k) or defined contribution plan and a defined benefit plan. Participating staff contribute 7.2% and NCHC will match this at 100% each pay period!
What You Bring:
Required:
- Master’s Degree in Human Services or a related field, earned from an accredited academic program
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Doctor of Social Work, or Licensed Psychologist
- 5 or more years of post-licensure direct clinical experience
- Meets eligibility to provide supervision of in-training therapists in the state of Wisconsin
- Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license and maintain unrestricted driving privileges throughout employment and have use of a personal vehicle.
- Must meet and continue to meet all requirements for insurability under the organization's vehicle insurance policy.
- Must be authorized to operate any vehicle and transport clients, patients, or staff as required by the position.
Preferred:
- Previous leadership or management experience within an outpatient behavioral health setting
- Knowledge of or experience with clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
- Experience using Microsoft Office, electronic health records, and analyzing clinical performance metrics
- Strong critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to balance clinical quality with operational priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

What a Clinical Manager does at NCHC:
Operations
- Executes and upholds mandates of Outpatient standards, agency policy and applicable regulations assuring timely documentation and compliance.
- Provides and facilitates clinical supervision to include individual and group supervision in a manner that meets program regulations and provides staff with direction, support, education and ideas necessary to deliver quality services.
- Promotes, supports, and ensures adherence to the pillars of the Outpatient program philosophy which include being strength-based, recovery-oriented, person-centered, flexible, trauma informed and consistent with best practice.
- Provides ongoing support and clinical direction to staff as needed to include assisting in crisis situations, addressing pressing clinical needs and assisting staff with service provision.
- Assists with referral and intake process by confirming consumer need for services, authorizing such services as needed and guiding appropriate team and staff assignment.
- Works closely with Patient Access to manage therapist’s schedules and EHR templates to balance caseloads and provide timely access for patients.
- Adheres to scheduled work hours with regular and predictable attendance.
- Travel required between locations in Marathon, Lincoln and Langlade.
Quality and Compliance
- Ensures content of documentation completed by all program staff is sufficiently comprehensive and completed in a manner consistent with program philosophy.
- Provides orientation and ongoing training for staff in topics relevant to clinical documentation.
- Ensures care delivery system meets regulatory requirements, including Department of Health Services and The Joint Commission.
- Upholds standards of treatment to ensure standards of care are met
- Carries out quality improvement projects initiatives
- Connects directly with clients/patients as needed to resolve grievances/complaints.
- Conducts compliance documentation auditing to ensure completion and follows up with clinicians and prescribers as needed.
- Offers clinical expertise on complex cases to inform therapists, prescribing providers, Community Treatment, Acute Care Services, and Compliance.
Partnerships
- Collaborates effectively with Outpatient leadership team and provides clinical direction and support to leaders.
- Engages in outreach, education and coordination of care with other NCHC departments such as inpatient hospital and community treatment.
- Contributes to relationships with community partners and key stakeholders to maximize collaboration.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises and provides guidance to therapists
- Assign and evaluate work, review performance and manage staff development in collaboration with HR.
- Coach and mentor employees in a constructive, encouraging manner.
- Manage employee performance, partnering with HR when needed.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training and retention process for the Outpatient Services area.
