Maintenance Technician

Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Level 1 or Level 2, 1st or 2nd Shift)

Job Description

This role supports a high-volume manufacturing facility that produces retail pumps and hoses by providing both mechanical and electrical maintenance on production equipment. The position focuses on troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of automation systems, drive systems, and related machinery, with approximately 60–70% of the work being mechanical and 30–40% electrical. Openings are available on 1st shift (7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) and 2nd shift (3:30 p.m.–12:00 a.m.), Monday through Friday, with limited overtime and occasional short Saturday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair production equipment with a focus on 60–70% mechanical and 30–40% electrical tasks.

• Diagnose and resolve issues involving 480V electrical systems, including troubleshooting and safe operation.

• Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems to ensure reliable machine performance.

• Read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation to identify issues and execute repairs accurately.

• Work with relays, automation drive systems, and related electrical components to keep equipment operating efficiently.

• Support and maintain automation systems, including drive systems and other automated equipment used in production.

• Perform preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to reduce downtime and extend asset life.

• Assist with maintenance and repair of CNC machines; receive training on CNC systems if not already experienced.

• Collaborate with other maintenance team members and production staff to minimize disruptions and improve equipment reliability.

• Participate in required maintenance testing for Level 1 and, if applicable, Level 2, and apply feedback to continuously improve technical skills.

• Document work performed, including troubleshooting steps, repairs, and parts used, in accordance with facility procedures.

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, uptime, and maintenance best practices.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and working with 480V electrical systems.

• Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

• Experience working with electrical relays in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

• Experience working with automation equipment and drive systems.

• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems.

• Ability to perform preventive maintenance on production machinery.

• Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with a mix of mechanical and electrical tasks.

• Willingness to work 1st shift (7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) or 2nd shift (3:30 p.m.–12:00 a.m.), Monday through Friday, with limited overtime.

• Ability to successfully complete a Maintenance Level 1 test as part of the hiring process.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working on CNC machines; if not experienced, willingness to learn and train on CNC equipment.

• Exposure to or experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), though not required.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility that produces high volumes of pumps and hoses for demanding applications. The environment combines mechanical and electrical work on automation drive systems, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and CNC machines. The facility has received substantial investment in recent years, with additional upgrades planned, resulting in modern equipment and infrastructure. This is a union facility, though joining the union is not required. Work is scheduled on 1st shift (7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) or 2nd shift (3:30 p.m.–12:00 a.m.), Monday through Friday, with limited overtime—typically no more than about 20 hours per year—and any Saturday work generally limited to six-hour shifts. All tools are provided, including safety glasses, and uniforms are supplied, creating a professional and consistent work setting. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $67641.60 - $74588.00/yr.
