Sterile Processing Instrument Tech II - GI, Endo - Phx.

City: Phoenix State: AZ Remote: No Department: Nursing Responsibilities Sterile processing technicians are vital to safe and efficient care delivery in the perioperative environment and are responsible for ensuring all surgical instruments are safe for use. They perform advanced, complex, multistep processes and delegated activities to support the operating room team in the care of the surgical patient and various procedural areas within the hospital. Tasks include cleaning, packaging and re-processing of reusable surgical equipment, instrumentation and scopes per manufacturer’s guidelines; maintaining inventory and storage of processed supplies; and supporting the surgical team with decontamination, assembly, sterilization, quality assurance testing, and storage. Central Service technicians work in compliance with best practices and standards established by The Joint Commission, AAMI, IAHSCMM, AORN, OSHA, DOT, WHO, FDA, EPA, and HIPAA. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. One year of sterile processing experience or graduation from an accredited and/or hospital approved sterile processing program and eligibility to sit for certification through HSPA or CBSPD. Knowledge of specific sterilization modalities and complex advanced processing systems is preferred, including gravity displacement, dynamic air removal, low‑temperature hydrogen peroxide gas plasma, ethylene oxide, DSD, CER, Pass Through Medivator Advantage, Astra Tee, GUS, Scope Buddy Plus, Aqua Sink, process and efficacy testing, and cutting‑edge specialty trials. Knowledge of high, low and intermediate disinfection levels, progressive computer knowledge for advanced computerized instrument tracking systems, sterilization, assembly case information, inventory management and individual productivity data, surgical terminology, microbiology, and safety and risk control is preferred. Proven interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communication, and ability to establish and maintain working relationships are preferred. Certification through IAHSCMM or CBSPD required within one year of hire and maintained thereafter. Benefits Highlights Medical: Multiple plan options.
