Overview The Medical Assistant maintains department patient care supplies, ensures timely flow of patients, and assists physicians and nurses to provide optimal care to patients and families. Qualifications Certifications: * Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Allied Health (AAH) * Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) * Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) * Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) * Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) * Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) * Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) * Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA) * Education: High School Diploma/GED (Required) * Work Experience: Medical Assistant Responsibilities * Verify patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing and/or recording medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming reason for visit or treatment. * Support patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations. * Prepare laboratory specimens. * Dispose of contaminated supplies. * Sterilize instruments and equipment. * Prepare patients for and take 2D and 3D imaging. * Remove sutures. * Keep medical and office equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures. * Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns. * Maintain supplies and perform preventive maintenance. * Call for repairs when needed. * Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to organizational standards, policies, and legal regulations. * Alert others regarding potential concerns. * Maintain patient confidence and protect medical office operations by keeping information confidential. * Caution others regarding potential confidentiality breaches. * Improve medical assisting knowledge by attending training sessions and reading technical publications. * Contribute to medical office success by welcoming new requests and helping others accomplish job results. * Ensure charges are captured on services delivered. * Clean equipment, chairs, and rooms between patients. * Replace and restock supplies and linen. * Take and record vital signs. * Recognize variances from normal and communicate concerns to RN or provider. * Prepare patients for 2D and 3D imaging. * Perform digital imaging. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $18.33per hour - $29.69per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
