Job Description:

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care and to achieve the best possible patient outcome. Serves as a resource person when the situation requires. Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Is responsible for the care of all patients from birth to elderly, including post-surgical and behavioral health patients. Conducts the initial assessment and re-assessment every 24 hours.

Responsibilities:

• Manage care across the continuum of care.
• Administer treatments, medications, interpret diagnostic tests, provide patient/family/significant other education, and collaborate with other professionals.
• Manage Behavioral Health Patients and therapeutic communication.

Requirements:

• Must have completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN approved institution.
• Must be licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Current BLS certification.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills and ability to practice nursing as described in the Alaska Status regarding the practice of Registered Nursing.
