2026 Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Engineer

The Aerospace Corporation is a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) that partners with the nation’s space programs to solve complex challenges across satellite, launch, ground, and cyber systems. Our Enterprise Effects Division (EED) integrates strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise, and the Cross‑Mission Effectiveness Department (CMED) supports modeling, simulation, and analysis to enhance space‑enabled mission effectiveness. Responsibilities Develop new, customer‑driven capabilities into our modeling and simulation software tools and enforce best practices in modern software development and maintainability. Convert programmatic requirements into actionable work. Collaborate closely with cross‑mission program offices and customers to translate their needs into modeling, simulation, and analysis tasks. Develop and present briefings and reports for program offices and customers. Travel occasionally as required. Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited program in computer science, electrical engineering, optical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field (pursuing or conferred within the last 12 months). 0–1 year of industry work experience. Proficiency in C/C++, preferably C++20, and experience working with a large code base. Experience with Python. Experience, coursework, or projects in modeling and simulation software development. Experience or coursework in at least one of the following areas: optics, beam control, filtering, multi‑int tracking, tasking, mission management, data transport, C2 processes, SIGINT system modeling, kill‑chain analysis, or orbit determination. Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team and manage multiple simultaneous tasks. Familiarity with software development cycles and version control systems (git, Bitbucket, etc.). Strong work ethic, self‑motivation, and willingness to take initiative. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bias for action and ability to identify shortcomings and address them with initiative. Preferred Qualifications PhD degree in a relevant STEM field (pursuing or conferred within the last 12 months). Proficiency with the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) or similar tools. Experience integrating multiple code bases and tools. Knowledge of intelligence community, U.S. Department of Defense, and Department of the Air Force business practices and programs. Current Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph and access to special programs. Location and Work Schedule Full‑time, on‑site at our facility in ElSegundo, CA. The selected candidate will be required to work full‑time, on‑site. Security Clearance This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance, issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required.
