Senior Compliance Manager

Location: Bethesda, MD

Green Key Resources is working with a leading organization to identify a Senior Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen its compliance function. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can interpret employment regulations, proactively identify compliance risks, develop practical solutions, and partner with Legal, People, and business leaders.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in compliance and/or employment law, with significant experience navigating multi-state and multi-jurisdictional employment requirements. A legal background, including attorney or paralegal experience, may also be highly transferable.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee compliance programs, policies, and procedures.
\n
• Monitor federal, state, and local employment laws and translate regulatory requirements into practical guidance for internal stakeholders.
\n
• Provide guidance on employment law, wage and hour requirements, employment classifications, EEO, pay transparency, and related compliance matters.
\n
• Proactively identify compliance risks and develop action plans to address potential issues.
\n
• Lead compliance audits, assessments, reporting, and ongoing risk-monitoring activities.
\n
• Develop and maintain policies and compliance-related documentation.
\n
• Support federal and state reporting requirements, including EEO and pay transparency reporting.
\n
• Partner closely with Legal and other cross-functional stakeholders on complex or escalated compliance matters.
\n
• Review and interpret legal and regulatory language and communicate requirements clearly to internal stakeholders.
\n
• Develop and maintain compliance governance processes and frameworks.
\n
• Stay current on changes to employment regulations and ensure policies and programs are updated accordingly.
\n
• Balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution of complex compliance projects and initiatives.
\n
• Lead and develop a growing compliance team.
\n

What We're Looking For

\n
• 7+ years of relevant experience in compliance, employment law, HR compliance, legal compliance, or a closely related area.
\n
• Strong knowledge of employment law and compliance, particularly wage and hour requirements.
\n
• Significant multi-state and multi-jurisdictional compliance experience.
\n
• Experience proactively identifying compliance risks and developing action plans.
\n
• Ability to interpret legal and regulatory language and provide clear guidance to internal stakeholders.
\n
• Experience with compliance audits, policy development, risk monitoring, and regulatory reporting.
\n
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
\n
• Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple priorities and critical deadlines.
\n
• High level of discretion when handling confidential information.
\n
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
\n
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Law, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
\n
• Prior people-management experience is required.
\n

Ideal Background

• Candidates with direct employment compliance experience are highly encouraged to apply. A legal background, including employment law, attorney, or paralegal experience, may also translate well to the role when paired with relevant employment compliance knowledge.
\n
• Experience supporting compliance across multiple states is particularly important. Exposure to complex state-specific employment regulations is highly valued.
\n
• Compliance certifications such as CCEP or CRCM are a plus, but are not required.
\n
