RN Specialty Nurse II

Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is seeking an experienced RN Specialty Nurse II to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in a dynamic hospital setting. In this role, you will provide advanced, evidence-based nursing care to patients with complex medical needs in a designated specialty area such as critical care, emergency, perioperative, medical‑surgical, cardiology, oncology or another specialty service line. Working collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and ancillary staff, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care, ensuring safe, high‑quality, and patient‑centered outcomes. As an RN Specialty Nurse II, you will serve as a clinical resource for peers and support staff, using your expertise to guide nursing practice, precept new team members, and participate in the orientation and ongoing development of unit staff. You will perform comprehensive patient assessments, administer medications and treatments, interpret clinical data, recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, and coordinate care transitions across the continuum. You will document all aspects of care accurately and timely within the electronic health record and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. This role requires strong critical thinking, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients in a fast‑paced environment. You will participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety efforts, and evidence‑based practice projects within your specialty area, contributing to unit‑based and organizational goals. This position involves variable shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support 24/7 patient care operations.
