The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales growth within municipal and industrial markets by promoting pumps, waterworks products, and related solutions. This role manages a defined territory, builds strong relationships with engineers, contractors, municipalities, and industrial customers, and delivers technical expertise to support product selection and project success. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong communication skills, industry knowledge, and a customer-focused mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

Territory & Customer Management

Develop, manage, and grow business within the assigned municipal and industrial territory.

Build and maintain long-term relationships with municipal decision-makers, engineers, contractors, utilities, and industrial facilities.

Conduct regular customer visits, presentations, and site assessments.

Sales & Business Development

Promote pumps, waterworks products, valves, hydrants, controls, and related equipment.

Identify new business opportunities, bid on projects, and pursue specifications within municipal and industrial markets.

Respond to customer inquiries, provide technical support, and prepare quotes/proposals.

Track sales opportunities and follow up to close business effectively.

Technical Expertise

Understand pump sizing, application requirements, waterworks components, and system performance.

Work with engineering, estimating, and inside sales to ensure accurate product selection and project coordination.

Provide field support, troubleshooting, and product demonstrations as needed.

Project Coordination & Support

Collaborate with internal teams—including Purchasing, Warehouse, and Service—to ensure accurate and timely delivery of products.

Review project specifications, plans, and submittals to ensure compliance with customer requirements.

Assist in resolving field issues related to equipment performance or installation.

Customer Service & Relationship Building

Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for customers in the territory.

Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding project updates, delivery schedules, and product information.

Attend industry events, trade shows, and municipal meetings to represent the company and expand market presence.

Reporting & Administration

Maintain CRM records, sales activity logs, and pipeline forecasts.

Provide regular updates to sales management regarding territory performance and trends.

Monitor competitive activity and industry developments.
